The Python distribution included in PyIMSL Studio is like any other Python installation in that additional packages may be installed to extend functionality. Conversely, the core functionality and other components of PyIMSL Studio may be installed into an existing Python installation. Instructions for choosing this option, as well as for installing on non-supported platforms like Ubuntu, can be found on the PyIMSL Studio Forum as a sticky post titled, Instructions for nonstandard PyIMSL Studio installation. See http://forums.vni.com/showthread.php?t=5066
While such modifications are possible, Visual Numerics strongly recommends using the complete PyIMSL Studio installation, as each component has been tested (and tested together) and is fully supported for Commercial users (non-commercial users are welcome to use the Forum for assistance).
