VISUAL NUMERICS ADDS THREE NEW EXECUTIVES

BOULDER, Colo. -- Visual Numerics, Inc., a developer of web-enabled data visualization, numerical analysis and enterprise software solutions, today announced that it has added three senior executives to its worldwide management team, including the head of U.S. operations.

Phil Fraher has been named executive vice president of U.S. operations. He has direct responsibility for North American sales, product development, technical services, financial management, marketing, and corporate services.

Fraher has more has than ten years of executive management experience in the software industry. Prior to joining Visual Numerics, he served as the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Brightmail, Inc., a leading provider of e-mail, message management, and content-filtering solutions.

Earlier in his career, Fraher held financial management positions at Pilot Software, a developer of online analytical processing (OLAP) tools, and Exxon Production Research Co., which develops oil exploration software, among other products.

Fraher earned an MBA from the University of Rochester William E. Simon School of Business Administration and completed his undergraduate studies in Computing Engineering at Auburn University.

"Joining Visual Numerics is like returning to my professional roots," Fraher said. "My previous experience at Pilot and Exxon is directly related to the work being done at Visual Numerics, namely the development of decision-making software tools. It is exciting to join a company that has already established a great position in the industries of the future, where our products will continue to assist our customers' mission-critical data analysis requirements."

Fraher said he was also attracted to Visual Numerics' "tremendous" corporate assets, such as strong brand recognition, product quality, long-term employees, and a large customer base.

In related news, Visual Numerics named two other executives to its senior management team: Sean Fitzgerald and Maura McGinnity.

Fitzgerald has been named vice president of development and technical services. Fitzgerald's primary responsibility is to lead the development and implementation of Visual Numerics' strategy and vision for current and emerging technologies and services. Prior to joining Visual Numerics, Fitzgerald worked for the Masters Institute, where he was executive vice president of product development.

McGinnity has been named director of marketing and business development. She is responsible for managing product marketing, business development, and marketing communications. Formerly, McGinnity was the director of corporate development at Tumbleweed Communications, a provider of software solutions for managing secure Internet communication and collaboration. While at Tumbleweed, she was responsible for marketing and strategic technology partnerships with companies such as BroadVision, Siebel Systems, Sun Microsystems, and Hewlett-Packard.
