Visual Numerics is on the Move in California

With a new headquarters and management team the industry-leading numerical analysis and visualization company seeks to accelerate its growth

SAN RAMON, Calif. - September 10, 2002 Visual Numerics Inc., a leading provider of visualization and numerical analysis software, today announced that it has moved its executive headquarters from Houston, Texas to San Ramon, California. By moving to technology-rich Northern California, Visual Numerics has been able to add a new infusion of experienced Bay Area management talent, including Phil Fraher, executive vice president of U.S. and Asia operations, Sean Fitzgerald, vice president of development and technical services, and Maura McGinnity, senior director of marketing and business development.

These aggressive changes are designed to accelerate Visual Numerics' growth, and put the market leader geographically closer to its key partners and customer base. "For over 30 years, Visual Numerics has been focused on many of the industries that are solidly entrenched in the Bay Area, such as aerospace, R&D, finance, and high tech," said Phil Fraher, executive vice president of U.S. and Asia operations. "Having our executive headquarters close to where the action is with a new, experienced team will help bring this already strong company to the next level of growth."

Visual Numerics is also supporting its growth strategy with an eye on new products as evidenced by its July 23, 2002 release of its Java Numerical library, JMSL 2.0, the only commercially available library that is based on the industry leading IMSL libraries with charting built for the Java Platform.

The company plans to build a strong base of operations in California while continuing to maintain key offices in Texas and Colorado in the United States, and Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Mexico, the U.K., France, and Germany overseas. "Mathematics is one of the truly 'universal languages' and Visual Numerics has been providing leading mathematical and statistical analysis and visualization tools worldwide for decades," said Sean Fitzgerald, vice president of development and technical services. "We are committed to supporting and building upon our best of breed solutions and providing them to our customers around the globe."
