Visual Numerics® Expands Support for
IMSL® Numerical Libraries Running on
64-bit Intel Processors
Numerical Analysis Leader Now Supports IMSL C Numerical Library and
IMSL Fortran Numerical Library Running on Linux-based Systems Built with
Intel EM64T and AMD Opteron Processors
Seattle, WA – SC|05, BOOTH #2006 – November 15, 2005
– Visual Numerics, Inc., celebrating 35 years of producing leading
numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced the immediate
availability of Visual Numerics' IMSL C Numerical Library and IMSL Fortran
Numerical Library for the Intel EM64T processor and running RedHat®
Linux Enterprise 4.0. The IMSL Libraries for the EM64T provide
developers requiring sophisticated, accuracy-verified mathematical
and statistical algorithms with an easy migration path to high-performance
64-bit computing platforms.
"Visual Numerics is currently the only vendor supporting verified
numerical libraries on both Intel EM64T and AMD Opteron in both
Fortran and C, reflecting our continuing commitment to support
the highest quality and most advanced analytics solutions on
today's industry-standard high-performance computing platforms,"
said Phil Fraher, CEO of Visual Numerics. "The proven
computational capabilities of the IMSL Libraries combined with
the power and flexibility of these industry-standard 64-bit
architectures provides the high-performance computing community
with a reliable, proven foundation for building their next
generation of computing solutions."
With their 64-bit architecture and expanded memory address space,
the Intel EM64T and AMD Opteron processors dramatically improve
performance and enable faster computation of more complex problems.
The combination of these processors with the industry-standard
IMSL C and Fortran Libraries running on a Linux operating system
creates a powerful computational platform for the scientific,
life sciences, aerospace, finance, government, and engineering markets.
About the IMSL Numerical Libraries
The IMSL Numerical Libraries are a comprehensive set of
mathematical and statistical algorithms that programmers
can embed into their C, Java™ and Fortran software
applications. IMSL provides the expertise needed to develop
and execute robust numerical analysis applications. This
IMSL Libraries allow engineers, scientists and researchers
to manipulate simple to extremely large and complex datasets
to detect and display patterns, trends, anomalies and other
vital information that would otherwise be overlooked in
their data. Specific supported computing platforms can be
found on the company's web site.
