Visual Numerics® Names New President of Japan
HOUSTON, TX - August 8, 2007 - Visual Numerics, Inc., celebrating 36 years of producing advanced numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced that it appointed Toshitomo Kobayashi as president of Visual Numerics Japan, Inc. Kobayashi will be responsible for driving business development for Visual Numerics in Japan. The appointment is indicative of Visual Numerics' growth in this region for the last 15 years, and its long-standing relationships with leading companies such as ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC), Geothermal Energy Research & Development Co., Ltd. and Agilent Technologies.
With Toshitomo's broad-ranging experience in sales, marketing, and IT consulting in Japan, Visual Numerics can better expand its business to Japanese companies that need advanced analytics in rapidly growing markets such as science, consulting, finance, manufacturing and R&D, said Phil Fraher, president and CEO of Visual Numerics. About Toshitomo Kobayashi
Prior to joining Visual Numerics, Kobayashi was president of Websense Japan, Inc., the world's largest Internet access management software company, where he directed the company's business in Japan. At Websense, he contributed to the expansion of the company's business in Japan by focusing on overall business localization including product development and localization for the Japanese market as well as enhancing technical support. Prior to Websense Japan, Kobayashi served as a Marketing Director of the imaging solution product for enterprises at Hewlett Packard Japan, where he directed the company's marketing operations in Japan. Kobayashi was born in 1965 in Osaka, Japan and graduated from The Waseda University, Japan. He also earned an MBA from The University of Leicester, England.
