Visual Numerics' IMSL® Fortran Library Now Available for Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler 9.0, Professional Edition, for Windows and includes support for
Intel® EM64T

Optimized High-Performance Numerical Analysis for Fortran Developers

San Ramon, CA - June 14, 2005 - Visual Numerics, Inc., a leading provider of numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced that the Visual Numerics IMSL Fortran Numerical Library 5.0 is now available for the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 9.0, Professional Edition, for Windows, announced by Intel Corporation earlier today. The newest edition of the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler combined with Visual Numerics' IMSL Fortran Numerical Library allows Fortran application developers to take advantage of robust mathematical and statistical algorithms optimized for Intel's compiler technology. Fortran developers can now build high-performance data analysis applications on Microsoft Windows-based systems using 32 and 64-bit Intel Pentium®, 64-bit Intel Xeon™ and Intel Itanium® 2 processors.

The IMSL Fortran Library mathematical and statistical capabilities, combined with the powerful Intel EM64T featured on Intel Xeon processors, provides Fortran developers with even more high-performance computing power and expanded memory for greater speed. This next-generation 64-bit technology offers backward compatibility with 32-bit applications and helps ensure maximum power and speed for future development.

"We're committed to offering Fortran developers the most comprehensive development environment available for high-performance analytics on Intel Architecture-based systems," said Phil Fraher, president and CEO of Visual Numerics. "By adding support for Intel EM64T, we are helping the Fortran community build the most robust numerical analysis applications for finance, life sciences, aerospace, manufacturing and other high-performance computing audiences."

"Visual Numerics' IMSL Fortran Library is a great complement to the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler" said Bill Savage, General Manager of Intel's Software Products Division. "This combination provides a set of high-performance development tools for Fortran developers who want to maximize performance on Intel processors."

IMSL Fortran Numerical Library 5.0

For decades, Visual Numerics' IMSL Fortran Numerical Libraries have provided industry-leading analysis routines to Fortran developers in high-performance computing through partnerships with top compiler vendors such as Microsoft, Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Absoft and Lahey. Unlike other libraries, the IMSL Fortran Numerical Library 5.0 is the only comprehensive library of mathematical and statistical algorithms for Fortran developers available in one cohesive package with complete backwards compatibility. The solution combines the powerful and flexible interface features of the Fortran language with the performance benefits of both distributed memory and shared memory multiprocessing architectures.

In addition to the IMSL Libraries' popular and easy-to-use naming conventions, the IMSL Fortran Numerical Library version 5.0 uses the latest Fortran protocol throughout to include applicable optional arguments, which saves time and reduces complexity in programming. Visual Numerics has also added new optimization functionality and statistical time-series algorithm codes, making it the most comprehensive set of Fortran libraries available and supported in a single package.
