FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Visual Numerics Delivers PV-WAVE® 8.0 with Enhanced Visualization and
Analysis Capabilities and Continues to Provide Custom Consulting
PV-WAVE 8.0 includes new optimization algorithms, charting and XML support
San Ramon, CA - July 29, 2003 - Visual Numerics Inc., a leading provider of numerical analysis and visualization
software, today announced the general availability of PV-WAVE version 8.0, a visual data analysis development
environment for engineers, research scientists and business analysts in a broad range of industries, who need to
build applications that visually represent complex numerical data. Among the new features of PV-WAVE 8.0 are XML
support, the addition of key optimization algorithms for more robust analysis and enhanced charting features for
developing even more sophisticated visualizations of complex data. In addition, PV-WAVE customers can take advantage
of Visual Numerics' consulting and premium support to help them develop and customize their applications for vertical
industries such as aerospace, oil and gas exploration, manufacturing and life sciences.
PV-WAVE 8.0's new elements and continued Consulting Services include:
- Enhanced Visualization - Double precision plotting, statistical charting, contouring and enhanced VTK (Visualization Toolkit) functionality that includes additional chart types for creating more specialized visualizations.
- Expanded Data Capabilities - Support for XML and HDF5 provides access to data stored in the emerging standard formats for business and technical data. The XML and HDF5 functions enable data exchange between applications without costly conversions to proprietary formats.
- New and Enhanced Analysis Techniques - New Optimization algorithm for general nonlinearly constrained optimization offers solutions to a wider range of problems than the existing optimization algorithms. For multidimensional data, PV-WAVE now supports polynomial evaluation and fitting for advanced regression analysis and curve fitting.
- Enhanced Performance and Language - Support for OpenMP for Solaris takes advantage of multiprocessor systems enhancing the performance of PV-WAVE applications. Enhanced Array processing allows users to group data and see where patterns occur in their data.
- Consulting Services and Support - With expertise from desktop computing to distributed deployment, and a combination of specialized applications for test engineering, process control, time series analysis, financial modeling and more, Visual Numerics' consultants have the tools and know-how to solve problems at any level of complexity. A Premium Support Program also offers dedicated senior technical expertise, extended personalized hands-on support, priority product services and problem escalation.
"For the past several decades, many of our scientific and engineering customers have relied on
PV-WAVE's visualization technology every day to make critical decisions with their numerical data," said Phil Fraher, COO of Visual Numerics. "Now we've made it even easier for them to develop and deploy PV-WAVE applications in diverse computing environments, and to customize those visualization applications for their needs. Additionally, we are seeing more and more demand for mainstream business applications from companies in the telco, cable and semiconductor industries which supports the demand for our growing consulting business."
PV-WAVE for Complex Dataset Analysis
PV-WAVE is an open environment that lets engineers, scientists and researchers develop and deploy Visual Data Analysis (VDA) applications that help them analyze large and complex datasets using a wide variety of visual techniques. PV-WAVE's interactive, array-based scripting language allows users to rapidly develop platform-neutral applications for manipulating, analyzing and visualizing these datasets to detect and display trends, patterns and anomalies. PV-WAVE Extreme Advantage includes the complete set of sophisticated mathematical and statistical functions from the company's IMSL C Numerical Library (CNL), as well as image and signal processing.
