Visual Numerics Announces Partnerships with
Terrabyte Corporation and PC WORKS in Japan
Japanese Distributors to Resell IMSL Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE to
Manufacturing and Medical Industries
San Ramon, CA - August 26, 2003 - Visual Numerics Inc., a leading provider of numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced two new partnerships with leading Japanese companies to distribute Fortran and C versions of Visual Numerics IMSL™ Library as well as PV-WAVE 8.0 within Japan. The distribution agreements with Terrabyte Corporation, Ltd. and PC WORKS Ltd. give Visual Numerics a competitive edge in providing numerical analysis and visualization solutions to a broader range of customers in Japan's manufacturing, automotive, medical and government industries.
Terrabyte Corporation, located in Tokyo, specializes in marketing computer-aided engineering (CAE) software and consulting to customers in manufacturing. "The value of CAE's analysis calculation capabilities is enhanced by the integration of other surrounding technologies, such as visualization. Therefore, distributing IMSL and PV-WAVE products augments our comprehensive CAE support service, which I believe, will even further satisfy our customers. By utilizing Visual Numerics' powerful tools, we intend to expand our own business and the efficiency of our customers' businesses," said Tadashi Komori, president of Terrabyte Co.
PC WORKS develops solutions for medical institutions, manufacturing companies, and government offices. "As a distributor of Visual Numerics' IMSL and PV-WAVE products, we are now able to provide more comprehensive support to our customers, which allows them to make more efficient use of their data resources. We will continue to promote our business to make our customers understand the many conveniences and advantages of using these numerical analysis and visualization products," said Kaoru Kanehara, president of PC WORKS.
Both companies will use PV-WAVE as the software for developing and reselling their own business solutions, and will resell the IMSL Libraries directly to their core customers.
"Given the strength of PV-WAVE's visualization tools and the industry-standard IMSL Library brand recognition, Visual Numerics is providing Terrabyte Corporation and PC WORKS with the highest caliber of numerical analysis and visualization solutions in Japan," said Phil Fraher, COO of Visual Numerics. "In return, we will benefit from Terrabyte's CAE experience and relationships in the manufacturing industry as well as PC WORKS' Osaka location, which provides us with greater exposure to IT customers in the medical and government sectors. Japan has always been an important market for Visual Numerics and with the growing need for robust analytics and visualization in this technology rich country, these important partnerships will help strengthen our presence."
About the IMSL Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE
The IMSL™ Numerical Libraries are a comprehensive set of mathematical and statistical algorithms that programmers can embed into their C, Java and Fortran software applications. IMSL provides the expertise needed to develop and execute robust numerical analysis applications; and PV-WAVE® delivers an array-based fourth-generation (4GL) programming language used by scientists, researchers, engineers, and business analysts to build and deploy Visual Data Analysis applications. These applications let engineers, scientists and researchers manipulate and visualize simple to extremely complex datasets to detect and display patterns, trends, anomalies and other vital information that would otherwise be overlooked in their data.
