JWAVE Stock Price Analysis Demonstration

This demonstration shows how JWAVE can be applied to stock price analysis. The demonstration highlights the capability of:

  1. Date/time plots
  2. High, low and close displays
  3. Bid and ask spreads
  4. Overall stock trend analysis

The stock transaction data used in this demo is composed of transaction price per share, current bid price per share, current ask price per share, volume of shares traded and the time of each transaction for four different stocks. (Note: Only two months worth of data have been collected for this demo.)

Note: It is recommended that you look at the following case. Choose "Company C" and select a view of the daily transactions for January 15. You can see from this display that the smaller the spread (difference) between the bid and ask price, the greater the volume of transactions.

Directions:

  1. Select the type of transactions you wish to view (High-Low-Close or Daily Volume) from the "Transaction Prices" pulldown list box. The High-Low-Close selection will display lines connected between each day. This assures that you may differentiate the close from the high or low values. The Daily Volume selection will display volume of shares traded over a period of time vs. the transaction price.
  2. Select a company's stock that you wish to view from the "Company Select" list box.
  3. Select the date for data you wish to view from the "Transaction Date" list box. The date you select will display a plot on the right side of the screen that represents a breakdown of the transactions and the times that they occurred during the selected day.
  4. Press the "Update Plot" button to display the information for the selections you made. Press this button each time you make a new selection to update the plot.
  5. Press the "Help" button for more information about this demo.
