Knowledge in Motion™ Education Program featuring the
IMSL® Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE®

Encourage Students to Explore the Practical World of Mathematic, Statistics and Data Analysis on a Broad Set of Computing Platforms, Including Java™, .NET, C/C++, and PV-WAVE

Visual Numerics' Knowledge in Motion education program covers a wide variety of computing platforms to allow instructors flexibility in teaching students advanced mathematical, statistical, and data analysis techniques. This program is designed to open up a new learning environment for professors and students. It provides the ability to build powerful analytic applications for collaboration and sharing across organizations and improve students' understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts through the use of the IMSL Libraries. With PV-WAVE they can visually analyze their data with a variety of techniques in order to fully understand the significance of the results.

For over three decades, Visual Numerics has been providing numerical analysis and visualization software to educational institutions on language platforms such as C, .NET, Java, and Fortran. The company's academic customers have trusted Visual Numerics to deliver the tools they need to conduct critical research and build leading edge curricula for students. Visual Numerics is committed to working with its educational customers to provide a flexible licensing structure that will allow continued learning with the most powerful tools available.

"As a professor of finance, I need the ability to integrate old Fortran libraries into Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or Visual Basic.NET quickly and accurately without writing separate wrapper programs for compatibility. The IMSL C# Numerical Library is the only program that allows me to do this. I proudly became a member of Visual Numerics' Knowledge in Motion Program because the company gives the academic world access to some of the most advanced and reputable mathematical and statistical routines available."

- Gary Richardson, Professor, Central Washington University

Professors of accredited universities or colleges who plan to use the IMSL Libraries or PV-WAVE development environment as part of a course offering are welcome to apply to become a member of the Knowledge in Motion Program. As a member, you will receive:

  • Free personal use license for course development of the product of your choice
  • Product documentation
  • Product support
  • Discount on purchases of other Visual Numerics products for your personal use
  • Free registration for Visual Numerics product Web seminars
  • Dedicated point of contact

"I develop my own class library of probability functions, statistical algorithms, and chart types to teach statistical concepts. By using Visual Numerics' JMSL Library instead, I know that I'm using well-tested and documented algorithms and I won't have to spend as much time writing code. More importantly, I'll be able to focus my efforts on teaching statistical concepts instead of developing an infrastructure of class libraries."

- Gary McClelland, Professor of Marketing and Psychology and Statistics Teacher, University of Colorado
