Installing the IMSL C Library for UNIX/Linux
1. Executing the install program
With an installation CD
Insert the CD and mount the device. You may need administrative rights to do this. The command may be different depending on your operating system.
- Mount the CD. This differs by operating system; some examples:
Sun Solaris: auto mount
IBM AIX: % mount rv cdrfs /dev/cd0 /cdrom
RedHat Linux: auto mount
- Create the installation target directory: # mkdir /usr/local/vni
- Start the installation program: # /cdrom/CTT6.0/ctt/cd_install
With downloaded files
Confirm you have the appropriate tar file for the hardware platform and operating system. The <tarfile> in the following commands will have a name like cnl50linux32_gcc.tar. Execute the following commands from the directory that contains the downloaded archive:
# mkdir /usr/local/vni
# mv <tarfile> /usr/local/vni
# cd /usr/local/vni
# tar xf <tarfile>
# tar xf install.tar
# CTT6.0/ctt/ftp_install
2. License Agreement
This screen presents the end user license agreement. Press the <space bar> to scroll through to read its contents.

When you reach the end of the license agreement, enter “y” and press Enter to continue the installation

4. Installation information
This is the introduction to the rest of the install procedure. Press Enter to continue.

5. Download file location confirmation
Users installing from a CD will not see this confirmation
The location of the source files is confirmed next. The default location is /usr/local/vni. If the files are
located elsewhere, update this value and press Enter. Enter y at the confirmation and press Enter to continue.

6. Install directory
Set the directory where the IMSL C Library will be installed. The default is /usr/local/vni. You will be prompted for confirmation.
Press Enter when you are satisfied with the target directory.


7. Module selection
This introduces the various modules that are available for installation as part of the IMSL C Library. Press Enter to continue to the selection screen

Select which platform modules to install. For the 32-bit Red Hat Linux installation pictured, enter 1 and press Enter.
To select all the modules, enter "ALL". Press Enter when the selections have been made.

Review the list of available modules for Red Hat Linux and type the corresponding numbers to toggle the selection.

10. Documentation Modules
Selecting number 2 in step 8 above, the documentation options are presented. Toggle the selections as before.

11. Display selected modules
Selecting number 5 in step 8 above will display all modules that have been selected for installation.

12. Installation begins
Once all the desired modules have been selected, enter x and press Enter to continue installing the IMSL C Library.

13. Hard disk space confirmation
Before any files are copied, the required disk space is computed and compared to that available. If there are no problems,
enter c and press Enter to continue. Enter q or m to quit the install program or to modify the selected modules.

14. License Number
If you have a License Number, enter it at this point. If you do not yet have a license number, or are evaluating the product,
use the default 999999. Press Enter to continue.

15. Installation progress
You will be updated as the installation progresses and informed about the number of files processed.

16. Installation complete
When the install program is finished decompressing and copying files, you will be presented with summary notes and returned to the command prompt
